Josh Pennington

Owner

As a founding member of ShieldWorks, Josh loves watching team members grow personally and develop professionally into the people they were created to be. He believes that that and getting positive feedback from customers on a job well done are the two things that make it all worth it!

Josh was born and raised in Bourbon County, KY. He grew up working in his Dad (Carlos Pennington) and Granddad’s commercial construction business, CE Pennington Company. He is a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky (GO BIG BLUE!).

Upon graduation, he went to work selling printers for Lexmark International and then software for a company based in San Jose, CA. But he found himself called back home and into the family business shortly after 9/11/2001. At the time his brother, James, and their Dad were already knee deep in what would soon become the Interior Protection Industry. And the rest, as they say, is history!

When he’s not in the office or on the road, Josh loves spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors. Hiking, off-roading, skiing, sailing–you name it, he’s game! Without a doubt though, his happy place is definitely on a beam reach in the Caribbean!

What is your most useless skill?

I can walk on a slackline like Nik Wallenda (well, maybe not THAT good).

Have you ever sported an embarrassing hairstyle?

I had a permed mullet in middle school…a true business in the front, party in the back, very BAD haircut. I’ve tried to destroy all evidence but I believe pictures may still exist…somewhere.

What’s your most out of this world story?

I once killed a deer…without a weapon or a vehicle! Ask me about it sometime!
